Maggie is scheduled for 3 FULL Day classes in January, but Time to Sign up is getting short!

Maggie is one my favorite designers. She is passionate about antiquities and all of her designs recreate these antiquities by intricately combining stitches.

No artist challenges you quite so much to think outside of traditional pattern designs and truly combine stitches with the ancient piece as the standard. I learned more about combining all the stitches I have learned from Maggie's classes, than from any other artist!

The pieces you create in Maggie's class have already stood the test of time and will be a treasured heirloom in your collection!

Macha Necklace - Thur, Jan 20 - The original piece was inspired by the Celtic torcs worn in ancient Ireland and is named for the woman who was the only High Queen among the High Kings of Ireland. Participants will learn to make spiral pattern components with circular peyote and and join the components to make three-dimensional triskelians – a motif from the Celts. Intermediate to Advanced Participants should be familiar with circular peyote and right angle weave.

Bacchus Bracelet & Earrings - Fri, Jan 21 - The grape motif is found throughout antiquity in jewelry, mosaics, and frescoes. Participants will learn to make grape leaves with a combination of Right Angle Weave and peyote stitch and grape clusters with a variation of Nepal Chain to make a pair of earrings or bracelet. Instructions include directions for both medium and large leaves. Intermediate – Participants should be proficient in peyote and familiar with Right Angle Weave basics.

Iside Necklace -- Sat, Jan 22 - Iside (Isis in Italian) is a pendant inspired by the headdress that is found on many of the statues of Isis found in Pompeii and Southern Italy. Components are made with peyote stitch and then combined with right angle weave to create this pendant. Although the pendant is shown on a Viking Knit chain, Viking knit will not be taught in this workshop but instructions for Russian Spiral will be included in the handout. Participants should be proficient in peyote.

Beginning Bead Stringing - Mon, Dec 6 - Learn essential beginning beading techniques including tools, how to use them, crimping and finishing, and how to choose quality components.

Intro to Wire Components - Tues, Dec 7 - Learn about wire gauges, tools, and basic wire handling techniques. Make several parts including: basic ear wires, headpins, simple designs, and clasps. This is the prerequisite class for all level 3 wire classes and All metal classes.

Sky Blue Necklace & Earrings - Wed, Dec 8 - Two-thread techniques to make a crystal ball and triangle pattern along with vintage filigree to look like antique jewelry.

Star Fruit Bracelet - Wed, Dec 8 - Beautiful "Star" shaped bracelet that transitions in this ombre-style in color and shape. Triangle weave, RAW variation. Permission of Heather Kahne.

Holiday PMC - Thurs, Dec 9 - Celebrate the holidays with your own special charms and pendants using brand new templates and textures available for the first time in 2010. Personalize by adding names and dates on the back.

Rivers of Blue Kumihimo Necklace - Sat, Dec 11 - This truly square braid is made with 8 strands of beads. Chevron patterned and long enough to go over the head. Finish with big focal bead and tassel. Pre-work required.

A little more about the "Pick Your Peyote" bracelet class at 1 Stop Bead Shop.

Visiting instructor Hannah Rosner will be visiting the store and teaching classes after her trip to Bead & Button. She's received a few emails from customers requesting more information regarding our peyote stitch bracelet class. The answer to most of the questions is YES! There will be many patterns to choose from.

Beginners will learn peyote stitch, while intermediate level students will learn “fast peyote,” which does two rows at a time.

Then, choose your pattern from the many we have for you to pick from (photos below of just a few of them - there are many more!). Pick your delicas and come back to class to learn to read a peyote graph and start your project. Once again, intermediate level students will learn to apply “fast peyote” to graph reading. We will discuss many different finishing techniques. Students will not complete project in class.

Jean Campbell

Jean Campbell is a designer and author who's got a thing for shiny bright
objects. She's the founding editor of Beadwork magazine, has written and
edited dozens of books on beading, and has penned articles for Beadwork,
Stringing, Simply Beads, and Step-by-Step Beads.

Jean is a Create Your Style Crystallized Elements Ambassador for
Swarovski and writes a popular weekly blog on Beading Daily. She has
appeared on the DIY Jewelry Making show, The Shay Pendray Show, and
PBS' Beads, Baubles, and Jewels, where she gives how-to instructions,
provides inspiration, and lends crafting advice.

Jean's work has appeared in numerous beadwork exhibitions, including
Beadwork I: Up Close; Beadwork II:The Embellished Shoe; Beadwork III:
The Beaded Cloth; Beadwork IV: The Beaded Figure, and Miyuki Delica:
Myths and Folktales.

Jean teaches off-loom beading and metal clay workshops throughout the
United States. She lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota with her family and a
whole lot of beads.

Beginning Peyote Stitch- Wed, Mar 17 -
Simple zig-zag pattern teaches simple graph reading and the stitch.

Everyday Collar - Wed, Mar 17-
Embellish 4mm cubes with crystal-seed bead loops and fringes.

2 Wire Rings - Thu, Mar 18 -
Finish 2 rings - learn annealing, sizing, shaping, intricate coils and more.

1000 Points of Light - Mon, Mar 29 - You didn't miss it! We scheduled another date! A great beginner level class with Lisa to learn fringe. Use 2 bottles of Chinese Crystals and seed beads to make this stunningly sparkly bracelet. Similar technique to OSU Jumble.

Russian Bead Lace - Sat, Jan 23 - This class is for all those that voted for a leaf class. In this class you will learn to make the Russian Leaf (increasing/decreasing peyote) and variations like the Oak Leaf will be discussed. Leaves are an incredibly practice embellishment to be able to add to any beadweaving piece. Level 3 - 3 hour. Pre-req Peyote. Only 2 spaces left!

Starfish - Fri, Jan 22 - This class is for all those voted for Enchanted Waters, Swim Around my Wrist, or other nautical themes. He will teach the starfish or sea star which is done in tubular Peyote. Other sea creatures will be discussed but not taught in this 3 hour class. Level 2 - Peyote suggested but not required. Only 2 spaces left!
